a non-comprehensive list of new years resolutions

  • spend more time outside
  • spend more time with my loved ones
  • finish that big crochet project I’ve been working on since July
  • stand up for myself more
  • stand up for my loved ones more
  • start taking care of my body more
  • start loving my body more
  • worry less about what others think about my body
  • take a class in a subject that interests me
  • figure out a curl routine that works for me
  • audition for more shows
  • …and get cast in one 🤞
  • have my friends over more
  • cook at home more
  • …but also try new restaurants more
  • tell people I love them
  • listen to my body when it’s speaking to me
  • listen to the Earth when she’s speaking to me
  • be weirder
  • talk to my younger self more, and listen
  • do things that would have made 12 year old me think “wow I’m so cool now”
  • read more
  • spend more time at the library
  • …maybe because I’ll work there? 🤞
  • write more, even if it’s bad
  • spend less time on my phone
  • have good sex
  • have fun sex
  • have the kind of sex that makes me love my partner more
  • prioritize joy
  • recognize when I am happy, and notice how it feels in my body
  • recognize when I feel love, and notice how it feels in my body
  • work with my therapist on the things that scare me
  • pet my cats more
  • vacuum more often
  • cut down on clutter in case I have to move
  • cut down on clutter even if I don’t have to move because my partner thinks I’m a hoarder and he’s probably right even though I only hoard things because I’m sentimental
  • stop blaming my negative tendencies on separate things and hold myself accountable because there’s no reason I should still have the ratty tank top that I used to wear under my costumes in high school theater that’s covered in mic tape spots, that thing is disintegrating and it’s not like buying a new tank top is going to break the bank, jesus christ.
  • and get rid of socks without matches while you’re at it.
  • write all this out and then forget about it. have the year that you want without worrying about checking boxes.
